Rules of PseudoBabble

Game Play

PseudoBabble is a game in which up to 12 players compete to make the
best or funniest sentences they can from a set of words chosen at random
from MrSquirrel's dictionary of of over 5000 hand-picked words.

In each round, all players get the same random set of words. Players
use the time allowed to arrange their words into a sentence by dragging,
double-clicking, or right-clicking the word tiles into the sentence box.

When the time is up and the sentences have been collected, the players
are shown all the sentences made, but not who made them. Players can
then vote for the sentence they like best simply by clicking on it. You
can change your vote by clicking on any other sentence before voting time
runs out. You cannot vote for your own sentence, and you must vote for
a sentence in order to receive any score for that round.

Scoring

When all votes have been collected, votes and scores for that round are shown.
The scoring for each round is as follows:
One point for each vote received.
Three bonus points for receiving the most votes.
One bonus point for voting for the winner.

In case of two or more sentences receiving the highest number of votes,
the longest sentence wins, as determined by counting the total number of
letters, spaces, and punctuation in the sentence.

Note that this is not always the longest sentence on your display.
For example, because letters are different widths, a sentence that has a lot
of "w"s or "m"s in it will appear longer, while one with a lot of "i"s or "l"s,
or extra punctuation, can appear shorter, than when measured by its character
count. And because browsers on various computers can have different character
fonts, it is impractical to truly pick a winning sentence based on its displayed
length. Therefore, ties are broken by counting the characters.

If there is still a tie, any tied sentences will all receive the three points,
and anyone voting for any of the tied sentences will receive the voting bonus
point, including the other player(s) that tied for the win. Thus it is possible
to occasionally earn four bonus points, if your sentence tied for the win, and
you voted for another of the sentences that also tied for the win.

The game continues until one or more players reaches at least 30 points. After
the scores for the final round are displayed, final game scores are shown. There
is then a short break before the next game automatically begins.
